6 reasons to live in Boston’s West End

September 30, 2020

From bold brews to crisp cocktails, we list why Boston’s West End is an awesome neighborhood to call home.

The West End is one of Boston’s most sought-after neighborhoods for many reasons. Proximity to downtown, the North End, and Beacon Hill is a big draw. But this neighborhood can hold its own in terms of food, drink, and culture, especially with the opening of The Hub on Causeway in 2019.

Here are 6 reasons to live in Boston’s West End

Seriously huge: Banners Kitchen & Tap

Waking up just in time for brunch? Make the biggest LED screen on the East Coast your backdrop at Banners Kitchen & Tap, an immersive 25,000-square-foot restaurant and sports bar at The Hub on Causeway. At Banners, where everything tends to turn into a party, National Bacon Day is celebrated all month long. Wash down with any of the 60 beers on tap — 55 are local brews! For brunch, we’ll go for the house-made skillet cinnamon rolls. Here’s to being part of the action.

So convenient: Star Market

Incoming: Gourmet dinner. Fire up the Bosch stove in your Hub50House luxury apartment. With a next-door neighbor like Star Market in Boston’s West End, grocery shopping couldn’t be easier. In addition to all the staples, you’ll love the butcher block with sushi, in-store coffee shops, and customizable cakes and party trays. Bonus: At-home dinner is served with stunning views courtesy of 9-foot floor-to-ceiling windows.

Go local: Alcove

“The best seat in the neighborhood is at our table.” It’s hard to disagree with the message on Alcove’s homepage. The Lovejoy Wharf location — down the street from Hub50House where Boston Harbor meets the Charles River — means every bite comes with Zakim Bridge views. All menus mirror the bounty of our local environment as Alcove makes a point to source from New England farmers and fishermen.  How about Three Prawns with shishito peppers and lemon from the Weekday Lunch Grill Menu or Salmon Poke for dinner on the patio? Split a pitcher of Aperol Spritz with your entourage and walk home happy.

Cheers, everyone: Night Shift Brewing

An experimental brewery and scratch kitchen make for a great combination. Add Night Shift Brewing at Lovejoy Wharf to your list of neighborhood haunts. Here, a huge craft beer selection and first-rate bar food is served amid industrial-meets-modern décor (round mosaic tile, exposed light bulbs). If temps allow, grab a seat on the outdoor patio. Water views included.

Take a break: Lederman Park

Take the Blossom Street footbridge and enter Lederman Park in Boston’s West End. This is also your ticket to the Esplanade, the three-mile long path stretching along the Charles River shore, from the Museum of Science to Boston University. Walk, bike, jog, or sprint — the choice is yours.

Like no other: Hub50House

Hub50House alone is reason to live here. (Yes, we may be partial but how could anyone disagree?) Named the 2019 Building of the Year by Curbed Boston, Hub50House delivers on its promise to redefine the urban lifestyle. Boasting the highest rooftop pool in Boston on the 38th floor and 14,000 square feet of outdoor and indoor luxury amenities, including a Woof Deck for our furry members, Hub50House is a vibrant centerpiece of The Hub on Causeway.

Please stop by. We’d love to show you around.
